You ever experience this mayhem, this infamous day we call Black Friday, when people set their alarms at 4:00 a.m. to go save $20 at the department stores. You remember hearing the stories of how people got squashed as they stormed their way into the stores, stepping on poor innocent children and pregnant women. And, who really knows why people brought their children? But they did.

When people hear there is potentially a limited supply of products, whether this be the next Elmo that does a special groove to the next special electronic fix, like the Wii, we go nuts! This is all marketing and we all respond to it by taxing our bodies and minds to thinking we need to have it and get up at this ridiculous hour to make sure we get the next big thing. We may not even be able to afford our car payment but somehow we can afford the sale.

This same mentality holds true for any product or business hitting the market. If you have a business with a product, I’m sure you’ve experienced the same behavior among your friends and family. You explain to your family what a great product your company offers, and they look at you like you have two heads. You know with certainty the product your company offers is better than anything on the market, but the only response you get back is a long distant look. You may be wondering as I did, “Is anyone there?” You also know that there is a great opportunity that could potentially change their lives, but they are quite satisfied doing the same thing complaining about the same issues.

When your product and the business becomes popular, people all around you are now talking about it. Suddenly, your family and friends say to you I read that people made a great deal of money. They may even tell you that their friend loved the product. Instead of bludgeoning your family over the head, you just wait for their decision to participate. Or move on!
