Think Like a Champion: An Informal Education In Business and Life
You ever run across the potential prospect who seems to have great business sense, the right posture, and they say to you “I’ll do your business if you do mine?” Naturally, when you prospect the idea is to connect with business minded people who may have a very successful business of their own. The best candidate for your business is someone who is more successful than you. Make sense, right?
These kinds of prospects may even be on your chicken list. They have good Mojo. They are confident. Maybe even a bit aggressive. You might even be intimated by their success. But they know what it takes to build a business. And you are taught to go after these types of people.
So once you finally build the courage up to dial your prospect, there is no turning around. One person off your chicken list! Your prospect picks up and seems to be in a rush as many successful people are, but you suck it up and start asking the right questions and your prospect seems intrigued…and you keep talking…At this time you are on a roll and you think you have it nailed. They seem to understand. You think they saw it, especially when you’ve explained the opportunity to make more money and to free their time. And they agree that this seems great.
Then your prospect hits you with, “I’ll do your business if you do mine.” Now you are completely deflated. But a part of you considers this offer, because this prospect is so highly successful with their current business. You might even think, “If I get him in and do my business, maybe then he’ll get it.” So you pause and you hesitate…Big mistake!
I have had this incident occur on a couple of occasions, and if you have been doing this long enough, so have you! If you make the mistake of allowing yourself in the passenger seat, you give the control to your prospect. Your prospect needs to know that you can maintain control so that he understands you can handle the likes of him or her!
People who engage in the tit for tat approach, becomes clear that they don’t see the big picture! If they cannot see your offer, then possibly they are not the right prospect, no matter how big of a fish they might be. Network marketing is not driven by any one person. The growth of the business happens because people see past themselves.
