Life as we have learned is a journey of twists and turns. Even if you know the path you are traveling down, we have come to experience that it is more about the journey rather than the destination. Some people take a road trip and wonder when they are going to get to their final destination and plan the fastest route…We would rather stop at every city and eat at every diner...and have conversations with local people…and plan our destination day by day adding people on our course along the way (of course not losing sight of the end in mind)…

When we made the decision to take part in network marketing, we were probably one of these people who planned the destination without stops and turns and wanted to know the fastest route…We had this mentality because we came from a place of need and so desperately wanted our lives to be a in a different place. You see we were like so many other people…stuck! Stuck in this hamster wheel, spinning around getting the same result and exhausted from the ride…

Prior network marketing, my wife, Kim was a realtor who’s hours were dictated by others. She worked 7 days a week and while she made good money, she was only as good as the commission check that she made that month. She never knew what was to come next month. She realized she would be doing the same thing for the next 10 years and the next 20 years...without a Plan B.

At that time, I was an executive in a technology based company. I was dedicating a third of my time away from my family traveling, never being provided additional income or incentives, putting forward additional efforts to grow and expand the company while I grew more distant and estranged from my two young daughters and wife. I had no Plan B…

Suddenly, on one Wednesday day in the middle of January I found myself sitting in my car in a parking lot near my home wondering how I was to tell my wife and family that the company I worked so hard for found me dispensable. Because Kim’s income was non-existent because of the declining real estate market, we were seriously broke and what we use to have in terms of stability was completely abandoned. We came to experience what so many Americans were enduring during this challenging economic time.

I don’t know why I sat in that parking lot all day instead of going home to my family. But when I think back to this time, I think I was scared and angry. But it was Kim’s reassuring words when I went home that evening that got us back on our feet. She said “They [The Big Corporate Company] could take away our house and cars but they can’t take away our family!” Can you imagine feeling so dependent and being a victim of a job or a corporation? Well, that was us and we were determined to change this from this point forward. We just didn’t have a plan yet…

At that time, we had our first foster son living with us along with our two young daughters. We couldn’t afford to take a back seat and wait around for the economy to improve. Plus, it wasn’t in us to sit back. We knew we had to take control of our future and make some significant changes in our life.

We don’t know if this sense of resilience comes from our experience of always having to work for what we achieved, or growing up in a working class family or simply being irked at the experience of being victim of the economy or Corporate America. Regardless, we learned we all have a choice to stay stuck in our fear or to make the changes necessary along the way to improve our lives.

So when we joined our network marketing business, we discovered our Plan B.

We recognized by helping so many other people grow their business that we also benefitted from the experience of teaching. We love the fact that ordinary people like us have the potential to achieve extraordinary results and far exceed the income and lifestyles ever dreamed possible.
